1) Individual Therapy with Parent Support and Training

Therapy will be available both in-person and tele-health to meet your family's medical and comfort needs.

CFATC's unique therapy approach treats a wide range of childhood emotional, behavioral, and social challenges. We help clients at four levels: 1) Teaching CBT-inspired coping skills, 2) Unblocking stuck emotions with creative art-play and verbal therapy, 3) Forming and practicing relationships with healthy attachment and boundaries, and 4) Training caregivers in supportive structure and strategies. Info about individual therapy.

2) The Art of Friendship Social-Coping Program @Home

The Art of Friendship Social-Coping Program @Home counteracts social distancing
isolation and skill regression.

It isn't safe to gather in groups just yet, but our social skills group therapists innovated creative ways to make virtual social skills therapy engaging and successful. Visit our social skills site.
Is your child's social skills program meeting his or her needs?
Girls’ groups, boys’ groups, and co-ed social-coping groups are available*. Registration is open for fall sessions for the following age ranges:
·      4-5 year olds
·      6-8 year olds
·      9-11 year olds
·      12-13 year olds
·      14-16 year olds
·      16-19 year olds
*Group availability varies by office location & goodness of fit with prior referrals. Our decision-making is guided by professional ethics. We try to place your child with peers functioning near your child's developmental level for maximum comfort and success. We do not place children with peer groups that are developmentally mismatched.

Why has the Art of Friendship been Philadelphia's go-to social skills program for 20 years? We love our clients, and it shows with our attention to every detail in the creation of this special approach:
  • Small groups facilitated by master's level, board certified art therapists
  • Participants thoughtfully matched for good fit based on both age AND social/developmental ability for maximum success
  • Ongoing, open-ended format (as opposed to a 10-week "season") provides ample practice of social skills & increasingly advanced social lessons beyond the basics.
  • Wide-ranging curriculum with a dual focus on social skills AND CBT self-regulation skills for anxiety, anger, & impulse-control
  • FUN developmentally appropriate group activities reinforce social lessons & foster participants' relationships
  • Parents learn weekly social lessons & reinforcement strategies to promote generalization of social skills to home & school
  • Regional leaders in the treatment of children with ADHD, autism, & learning differences. We teach educators and professionals best practice social development strategies!
  • Free registration for Mike Fogel's year-round seminar series for parents, caregivers, educators, & helping professionals (below)
Our social skills groups will be on Zoom to

The Art of Friendship team can bring our special brand of social-coping skills training to school. We've been contracting with public and private schools for 13 years!
  • We can provide in-school small group social skills therapy for identified students.
  • We offer a "residency" at your school that can be customized to 8-30 weekly sessions. We embed with one grade, one division, or the whole school. Together we create the ultimate social-coping community by teaching our social-coping curriculum to students, faculty, and parents. Teachers and parents receive training in ideal reinforcement techniques to motivate the entire community to practice of social and coping skills.
